My Life in Books Tag

A massive thank you to Aura Willow for nominating me for this fun tag1 Please take a moment to check out her amaaaaazing blog here.

So here is my life in books!

1. Find a book for each of your initials.

Caroline….C for City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

I loved this series and am so excited for the tv series that’s currently being made!

City_of_Bones

Peckham….P for Potter! AKA….Harry Potter…

Okay a bit of a cheat but I don’t have any books on my shelf beginning with P!

2. Count your age along your book shelf.

I’m 25 so here goes………………………………Spellfall!

This is one of those books I absolutely ADORED as a kid. It was the sort of book I’d pick up if I was feeling low and get lost in for a day. I’ll never part with it or any of the Katherine Roberts books I own (including the one I got personally signed from her when I won a competition!!)

3. Pick a book in your city/state/country.

I’m gonna go for Surviving the Evacuation, Book One: London by Frank Tayell (I live on the outskirts of London so I think I can just about get away with this one especially as I know many of the places in the book!)

18655852

This is an exciting book which I’d recommend for zombie lovers. It also has an interesting twist as the main character begins the story housebound with a broken leg so is unable to evacuate with the rest of the country. He also has connections with the government and the story is interwoven with a possible conspiracy which gives it more depth than just zombie-driven action!

4. Pick a book that represents a destination you would love to travel to.

Jurassic Park!!!!

7653482

Call me crazy but I want to visit Jurassic Park (or World as it’s now open tehe). I know, I know everyone always end up at best running for the hills or at worst eaten by a dinosaur which is then eaten by another dinosaur…

But! I still wanna go and if this place ever opened I’d be at the front of the queue. Okay so I might have a baseball bat and a helmet on but I’d be there…..

5. Pick a book that is your favourite colour.

I have two favourite colours (pink and blue) so I’m gonan choose blue and go for Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher

24378015

I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee these books and cannot wait for the third part to come out. They are so easy to read and you simply can’t put them down!

6. Which book do you have the fondest memories of?

I hate to say Harry Potter but it’s just the truth! I think so many people will feel the same because we all grew up with these books. I used to queue up at the supermarket at midnight to get the latest instalment and I miss being able to do that these days! I do still get super excited about new books in a series coming out but as they are delivered to my kindle on a preorder it’s not quite the same……

7. Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

Allegiant

I loved the first Divergent book but by the third one I found I was pushing myself through them. And, I hate to say it but once Four’s P.O.V was added in Allegiant…..I guessed why….and it was a long slog to the end to know what was coming…..

8. Which book in your TBR pile will give you the biggest sense of accomplishment when you finish it?

I think I’d have to say the Game of Thrones series. I’ve not yet started it but, once I begin, it’s gonna be a mission to reach the end!

That’s it! I hoped you enjoyed it!

I’ve been nominated for the Versatile Blogging Award (I can’t believe it!)

the-versatile-blogger-award

Thank you so much to Christine.B for nominating me. Check out her blog here – you won’t regret it! Her musings are passionate, funny, inspiring and quirky and you might even catch a glimpse of her gorgeoussss dog in a photo or two!

So! What’s this versatile blogging malarkey all about? Telling you seven things about myself of course – what? Wasn’t it obvious? (It really wasn’t…)

So here are seven things about me you probably didn’t know (and if you did you must be psychic or a mindreading stalker – ooo a mindreading stalker that’s a scary thought!)

Just for the hell of it I’m gonna number each one in spanish (don’t ask me why…)

Numero Uno – I love to run! I run 4 miles at least three times a week! It’s my favourite exercise because I can get up into the hills, run off road through the fields and just be completely alone with my thoughts. It’s a fantastic way to work out kinks in my book and also time to just escape from the world for a while. #bliss

Dos – I was brought up as a vegetarian and have never eaten meat! I bet that one made you pause haha. I get a lot of questions about this one because many people simply can’t believe I’ve gone my whole life without tasting the meatyness of meat but oh well! Doesn’t bother me XD

Tres – I live in the most quaint, quintessentially English town you could ever imagine! It’s famous for being the home of Winston Churchill and tourists flock here all year round! The town hosts all kinds of old fashioned events on the green from wartime fairs with a real life warhorse descendent called Hercules who pulls his own carriage (including bringing santa to town at christmas!)

Cuatro – I’m an adventurer and thrill seeker at heart. Every year I jet set off on my own to a foreign land and pack as much sightseeing, hiking, and adrenalin activities in as I physically can. I aim to see the world one holiday at a time!

So far I’ve trekked the great wall of china, skydived, scuba dived, bungy jumped and rode an elephant bareback in Thailand, crossed the southern states of the USA from LA to New York camping all the along the way from winning in Vegas, trying my hand at a shooting range in Texas (apparently I’m a natural!), riding in a helicopter over the Grand Canyon, horse riding on a ranch in Utah, dining with the native americans in Monument Valley, lived it up in New Orleans, cycling around Washington DC in a desperate plight to visit every museum, white house and monument in town, running up the Rocky steps in Philadelphia and sightseeing in New York. This year I’m flying to Australia where I will be travelling alll the way round woohooo! Adventure is in my soul! And that’s why I love to write it too!

Cinco – I drive a Mini Cooper (I know, I know I’m the most english person that ever lived right?) I love driving and have actually been congratulated on my parallel parking by several onlookers on various occassions! ( If you saw where I have to park every day and seen the pubload of afternoon drinkers in front of me while I do it, I think you’d agree I cope pretty damn well under pressure!)

Seis – I’ve been single for four solid years! *gasp* – No, seriously! And I’ve loved every minute of it! I’ve learnt to become independent, live on my own, travel alone and be comfortable with just being alone. One of my favourite quotes that sums up a period of singledom is this:

“Appreciate being single because that’s when you grow the most. And with that growth, you come to know what you’re looking for.”  – Daniel Goddard

This just says it all...
This just says it all…

Siete – And last but not least I’m a bit of a zombie fantatic! I often have intense dreams (nightmares???)  about surviving a zombie apocalypse! My favourite tv show is The Walking Dead and I recently bought tickets to the first ever walkerstalker convention coming to London and the cast are all gonna be there! (For fans of TWD – Norman Reedus just signed up and I’m peeing my pants with excitement!) and to give you an idea of how crazy I and those I’m going with are….we are dressing up – oh yes! I have literally seen every zombie film and tv show ever made and like to think I have a pretty good idea of what to do if zombies come to town…

So there you are! I may have put you off me for life or (hopefully) given you a bit of reasonably interesting info about me that momentarily distracted you from that paint drying on the wall!

Thanks for reading!

The Would You Rather Book Tag

I’ve been tagged in the would you rather book tag! Thanks so much to lovingyoochun for tagging me whose blog you can find here: vilviohora@wordpress.com

Would you rather only read trilogies or only read standalones?

Trilogies! I find a standalone leaves me wanting. One book just doesn’t quite have enough platform to get me truly head over heels LOVING the characters.

Would you rather only read male or female authors?

I wouldn’t consciously choose male or female but looking through my favourite novels I definately have mostly female authors so I guess I have a subconscious preference!

Would you rather shop at Barnes and Noble or Amazon?

Definately

Definitely Amazon! I am a bit of an Amazon fiend actually; I use them for Kindle, Prime Instant Video and generally order all my DVDs etc from them. I also plan to publish with them later this year so I’m practically their biggest consumer haha.

Would you rather books were made into TV shows or movies?

I can’t deny I LOVE going to the cinema on opening night for the latest book adapted film e.g Hunger Games – BUT if they made the Hunger Games into a TV series I’d be in Heaven. So it has to be tv for me – it has the same affect as a series of books I just get so much more attached to the characters and the experience lasts so much longer

Would you rather read only 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?

Five books per week! I have been known to do this anyway…

Would you rather be a professional author or reviewer?

AUTHOR – This. Is. My. Ultimate. Dream!

Would you rather be a librarian or a bookseller?

Booksellar I think as Librarians have to be so quiet and I’d rather chat away discussing the books with the customers

Would you rather read only your favorite genre, or every other genre but your favorite?

Favourite genre for sure! Though I’m not sure if I could pick between fantasy and sci fi!

Would you rather only read ebooks or physical books?

Hmmm…I love real books but I have to confess I generally read everything on my kindle since I bought it. It’s just so practical and easy to bring every where I go! I can also prop it up when im in the bath on a bath tray which has solved the issue of me getting books damp!

I also love the fact that I can basically carry my entire book collection with me everywhere I go. When I go on holiday I have a whole array of books to choose from and there’s no weight limit like there would be with real books!

Thanks for reading! Here are my book tags (if you’ve done this before don’t worry about doing it again!):
